Future Broadus
Broadus is going through transition in two major areas.
First, Eric Howell, pastor since 2002 submitted his resignation effective July 31. Eric and his wife Jenny have relocated to Waco, TX where Jenny will pursue graduate studies in theology. Prior to his departure, Eric had been working with the staff and lay leadership of the church to plan for a smooth and positive transition for the congregation. A search committee for the next pastor was appointed in late July and has started their work to identify new candidates. Plans for the interim period include an impressive list of guest preachers and continued work in all the areas of Broadus’ ministry. Though it’s always hard for a church to lose its pastor, the work and ministry of the congregation continues. Please check back here for updates on the process.
Second, Broadus has been engaged in a three-phase visioning process. This process began with 100 days of intentional prayer and sharing around focus areas for the congregation. The second phase, the reflection and idea phase, is about what God is doing and how Broadus people are engaged in the work of God’s Kingdom. This summer the leadership team has culminated this phase of the process by presenting and gaining the approval of the congregation three documents: Core Beliefs, Core Values, and Future Story. The Future Story is a narrative of God’s work through Broadus in the year 2017. It’s an attempt to capture on paper our vision of what is happening through the ministry of Broadus if we are reaching our full potential in 10 years.
