Core Values
Broadus Baptist is committed to and vitalized by:
Discipleship
. . . the journey of grace and faith to become more like Christ in our thoughts and actions.
With Christ as our Savior and Lord, we are being transformed into His image as we worship, study the Bible, serve one another and join Christ’s mission in the world today.
Bible Study
. . . the power and authority of scripture in our faith and lives.
The Bible’s timeless truth enlightens us in our quest for meaning and wholeness in the contemporary world.
Distinctive Beliefs
. . . the biblical teachings that establish our identity and our unity and teach us how to engage the world.
Our core beliefs are in harmony with historic confessions of faith such as the Apostles’ Creed and with the traditional Baptist beliefs [..] affirmed in the Baptist Faith and Message of 1963.
Priesthood of Believers
. . . the freedom and privilege of every individual to grow spiritually and minister in Christ’s name.
There are no second-class citizens in the Kingdom of God. We are led by the Holy Spirit and guided by the community of faith, and we recognize that our different gifts and perspectives are important to the life and welfare of the body of Christ.
Lay Leadership
. . . the participation and leadership potential of every person in accord with individual gifts, passions, talents, and abilities.
God gifts men and women for service and leadership in the church. Each church member can have a voice in the direction and decisions of the church.
Authentic Community
. . . the unity that grows as we love and serve one another.
We welcome others into redemptive community where faith in God and our shared profession of Jesus Christ unites our individual responses to the Holy Spirit.
Evangelism and Missions
. . . the joy of introducing people to Christ and participating in the mission to bring salvation and wholeness to people everywhere.
Faith in Christ is personal, but it is not private. We want to share the Gospel and to be the presence of Christ in our community and world.
